Julia is an award winning actor, playwright and theatre maker. Her mother is from the Isle of Lewis and her father Australian. She grew up in Papua New Guinea and Indonesia, trained and worked in London for ten years and now lives in Glasgow, Scotland.

As an actor she has worked with theatre companies including The National, The National Theatre of Scotland, The Traverse Theatre, Magnetic North and Catherine Wheels. She can currently be seen on Ceebeebies and her film credits include The Glasgow Girls and Sunshine On Leith

As playwright, AJ Taudevin, she has been nominated for the James Tait Black Award for Drama, won the Playwrights Studio New Writers Award and had her work produced and performed internationally. She is published by Oberon Books.

As a theatre maker she specialises in cross-artform collaboration most recently resulting in the Edinburgh Festival 2016 hits Blow Off and Heads Up.
